"In the tapestry of time, our love is woven. A golden thread that stretches beyond sight. Through countless sunsets and dawns unspoken, our hearts beat as one, in day and night."
Fred (Pop Pop) David Molina was born on July 25th, 1962, Ventura CA, to parents Frank Marino Molina, and Anna Rodriguez Molina (Cervantes). Fred passed away unexpectedly, at age 62 at Logan Regional Hospital, surrounded by his wife Sherri and family.
I never knew how to describe a person who was loved so much in the dash part of a life, but I pray you will feel a glimpse of who my lover was.
Fred was raised on a farm in Santa Paula, Ventura County in California. During his youth he played with his sister Rose, brother Johnny and many cousins. Fred loved roaming the farm, climbing trees and swimming in the river. He often fell into poison ivy and cactus plants (he didn't mind). His cousins even threw a rock at his head while playing by the river and it started bleeding. They quickly dunked his head in the river, convinced that it would stop the bleeding. He was a very tough and resilient man throughout all his life.
In 1971 Fred's father, Frank passed away and they moved to Lennox, California. This is where he met his lifelong friend Danny. They meet on the first day of school when he started beating up bullies that were picking on Danny, and a paddling by the principal followed. With this newfound friendship Fred met Danny's sister Sherri (age 5 at the time), and the rest is history, they were inseparable for 43 years.
In the 80's Fred was very involved in the heavy metal scene and he loved stage diving and mosh pits. In 1983, on November 30th Fred and Sherri welcomed their first daughter Cristy. Then a few years later January 20th, 1987, their son Michael was born. After 15 years as a family of 4, it quickly turned into a family of 6 with the birth of twin boys. George and Gabriel on May 1st, 1998.
Fred was also a real-life hero not only to his family but to complete strangers as well. On February 27th, 1997, Fred helped a blind elderly lady on his bus route get off the bus which was taking on rapid fire to safety during the North Hollywood bank robbery. He received a Certificate of Commendation for heroism and unselfish bravery, from the County of Los Angeles.
Fred and Sherri were married and were later sealed for time and all eternity on June 4th, 2011. Fred and Sherri's love was in its purest and most enduring form. They shared 43 years of life, overcoming many challenges. He was so proud of his family and his children's accomplishments. He was PopPop to 4 amazing grandchildren, who he loved endlessly and will miss him terribly.
Anyone Fred met was an instant friend and he was happy to brag about his loves to anyone that would listen. Fred was an amazing storyteller, many don't realize this, but they were all true!
Fred is full humor, shenanigans, jokes, silliness, but most of all he would come up with his own language. For instance, money was named "Robert", because in Spanish, money is Denerio. His famous fictional dish of "Arroz con pollo, hamon con chili".
His grandchildren would always say "If PopPop can't fix it, no one can". Fred loved deep and it was with all his heart. Everyone that knew him would agree that he had a heart of a lion, and a soul of an Angel. He was hilarious, the kind of jokester that made you pee your pants. He could make anybody laugh.
Fred suffered many years in pain. His body did not pass the quality control inspection when he was in line for Heaven, he got used body parts. He smiled, and joked through his pain, it never slowed him down.
The most important love of his life was the lord. He loved Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father eternally. He was a true and faithful servant. His love of the temple increased when he was called to be an ordinance worker in the Logan Temple. He said, "I would rather go to the temple than go to church".
