Arno R. Hinck, 86, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the Logan Regional Hospital.
He was born on April 9, 1936, in Turnerville, WY, the fifth of seven children, born to Marion Lyman "Dime" and Zella May Hinck. He grew up in Bedford, WY. After graduating from Star Valley High School, Arno joined the Army. He served in Colorado with a mule pack unit and in San Antonio, TX, training and caring for the Army Olympic Pentathlon team horses.
After separating from active duty, Arno returned to Star Valley, WY. He married Florence Nebeker on June 26, 1960 in the LDS Temple in Logan, UT. They made their home in Hyrum, UT and raised two daughters.
Arno retired after 32 years, from Hill Air Force Base, as an electrician and instructor, wiring F4's, F16's, and C130's. He spent his life training, shoeing, caring for horses, and helping many people with their injured or ill horses. He spent many weekends, and before or after work, shoeing horses.
Except for his wife and girls, horses were his heart. Any time spent on, or around, a horse was time well spent. He loved horse racing of any kind, and spent many hours researching his breed line and watching horse racing on the television.
After retiring from the base, Dad was able to work and ride for the Kearl Ranch and the Cattlemen's Association in the Bear Lake area, spending many days in the saddle.
Arno is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence, his daughter, Kristen (Dennis) Hodges, daughter, Catherine Hinck, grandson, Kiley (Heidi) Hodges, granddaughter, Cameron (Joshua) Holley, great-grandson, Gunner Holley, and great-granddaughters, Brett and Harper Holley, and Jade Hodges.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the White Pine Chapel, 753 South 100 East in Logan. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
