Ballard King Yeates

May 22, 1922 — July 29, 1942

Millville, UT

Ballard King Yeates will be laid to rest next to his parents and family on May 18, 2024. Ballard passed away on July 29, 1942, at a Cabanatuan POW Camp in the Philippines after surviving the Bataan Death March. We are grateful to the U.S. Army who have recently identified his remains and returned them to his home and family.

Ballard was born to Alma and Grace King Yeates on May 22, 1922, in Millville, (now Nibley) Utah. He was the fourth child of six. He attended local Millville schools and graduated from South Cache High School. After graduation he studied radios at USAC (now USU). He also was an accomplished flutist and played in band, orchestra and won honors for solos. Ballard enlisted in the Army in March of 1941 and was training for the Signal Corps. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who are grateful for the privilege of honoring him.

We will celebrate his life on May 18, 2024 at 12 Noon at White Pine Funeral Home, 753 S 100 E, Logan, Utah.  A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 to 11:45 for anyone who would like to come visit with the Yeates family.  Graveside services will be held under the direction of the U.S. Army Honor Guard at the Millville Cemetery following the funeral service. A special thanks to Colonel Jim Bell and the Repatriation Committee who made all of this possible.
