Bonnie Elaine Benson

Bonnie Elaine Benson, 71, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 in Logan, Utah.  She was born on July 25, 1951 in Peoria, Illinois.  Her parents were Ernest Franklin Putney, Jr and Shirley Marie Slaight.  She lived in Illinois most of her life then the sunshine and red rocks enticed her to Arizona.  Her final years have been spent in Utah surrounded by her grandchildren.   

Bonnie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous church auxiliaries. The Young Women held a special place in her heart. She was a secretary for different companies but especially enjoyed working with United Way.  

Bonnie made beautiful wedding cakes and spectacular giant birthday cookies.  She also had a talent for making jewelry. Bonnie loved going out to eat, Dr. Pepper, chocolate cake, and Barry Manilow. But her greatest love and joy was spending time with her grandchildren, all of which adored her. The grandchildren remember having tea parties, playing pretend store, building blocks, making crafts, and riding the bus with her.  

Bonnie is survived by her children, Jeff Benson of Colorado, Anne Benson of Utah, Jamie (Mikkael) Strubhar of Utah, brother Lester Putney of Oregon, 10 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.  

Bonnie was loved by many people and made friends wherever she went.  Even in her last days, she touched the hearts of those who cared for her and made lasting impressions on everyone.   She will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 9:30 am followed by a memorial service at 10:00 am at White Pine Funeral Services, 753 S 100 E Logan, Utah.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local cancer center. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at White Pine Funeral Services.
