Bruce Dewey Allsop, 88, of River Heights, UT, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by members of his loving family on March 24, 2025. Bruce was born on April 25, 1936, to Dewey Earl & Alta Erma Larsen. Bruce married the love of his life Barbara Mae Bateson, in the Logan LDS Temple on January 29, 1958. They celebrated 64 years before she passed away in 2022. They had 3 children, Dale Allsop, Cathy (Lance) Johnson, & Dennis (Kim) Allsop. 8 Grandchildren, and many Great-Grandchildren.
Bruce grew up on the family farm in Smithfield and learned the ethic of hard work from his father. Which was a quality that he had his whole life. Shortly after he got married he was drafted into the US Army. Bruce served 2 years in a Special Unit division in San Antonio, TX. He trained jumping horses that were used in competitions in the Modern Pentathalon and the Pan Am Games. His son Dale was born in the Army hospital while he was stationed there.
After Bruce was released from the Army he moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, doing construction hanging sheet rock. During that time, his daughter Cathy was born. Continuing his work in the sheet rock business, Bruce moved his little family back to Cache Valley and bought a home in River Heights where he resided until his death. Bruce continued to hang sheet rock and started doing insulation as well, Bruce Allsop Insulation. In 1977 Bruce started his Cellulose Insulation Manufacturing Business, Mountain Fiber Insulation, Inc., making his own insulation to install in homes and business’s in Cache Valley. He continued to figure jobs until 2020, even though he had turned over operations to his son Dennis and daughter in law Kim. Bruce’s legacy will continue with the business through his grandchildren as they are involved as well, as the 3rd Generation of operations.
Bruce attended elementary in Smithfield, Utah and graduated from North Cache. Bruce made a lot of friends over the years through school and his work in construction. He enjoyed being able to sell his work which was always of the best quality. This is why his business was successful and obtained a good reputation for many years.
Bruce is survived by his son Dennis (Kim) Allsop, Cathy (Lance) Johnson, all of his Grandchildren and Great-Granchildren, sisters Patty Frint and Linda Robinette, brother Tom Allsop, and his precious dog Penny.
Bruce is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Mae Allsop, his parents Dewey Earl and Alta Erma Allsop, son Dale Allsop, and his little dog Levi.
Our family would like to express gratitude to the loving care that was provided to Bruce by Maple Springs and Primrose Home Care during his last days.
