Cheryl Myers, age 68, passed away on June 19, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at her home in Hyrum, UT.
She was born on November 3, 1954, in San Diego, CA, the first of 4 children born to Syd and Judy Elliott.
Cheryl spent the first 18 years of her life in West Valley, UT where she attended all grades of school, making friends and memories that we hope she still had somewhere deep in her mind at her passing. It was in 7th grade when she met the love of her life and soulmate, Roger. They continued through junior high and high school together and when they were 16, they gave birth to a daughter and placed her for adoption. Their love continued to grow and 9 days after graduation they were married in Cheryl’s childhood home and began their life together.
They immediately moved North to Cache Valley to start their life as Roger had work and they made their home in Logan. One year later they purchased a new home in Hyrum, where they eventually welcomed their last 3 children, Monica, Joshua, and Angela.
Our mom worked at different jobs throughout her life from Schreiber’s to EA Millers where she ended up retiring. Our mom was very proud of the life she created and in the family she had. Her greatest role in life was wife and mother, she was the one that made sure every birthday and special occasion were celebrated to the fullest. She became the family caretaker, and it came so easily to her to want to take care of everyone but especially her kids and their families. She cherished her grandchildren and would have found so much joy in meeting the 4 grandchildren of her oldest daughter Sheri and the 7 great-grandchildren she had.
Our mom’s other love was her love of the United States and all things America-related. In that ever-present caretaker role, she agreed to be the FRG leader of her brother Steve’s Army troop when he was deployed. She only removed the yellow ribbon she wore during his deployment when he was “boots on the ground” and home safe.
Dementia robbed our mom of the last years of her life, but we are so blessed to be able to remember who she was, and how she loved, and we are so lucky that she not only loved us unconditionally, but she also taught us the true meaning of unconditional love through her endless selflessness and leading by example.
She is survived by her husband and soulmate Roger and their children Sheri of Madison Wisconsin, Monica of Hyrum, Joshua of Logan, and Angela (Donovan) of Preston Idaho, Amber Myers of Smithfield, her 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Her mom Judy Elliott, brother Steve (Kathy) Elliott of Wasilla, Alaska, sisters Kelly (Kim) Terry and Michelle (Gordon) Baker of West Valley Utah, and many nieces and nephews, Aunts, and Uncles.
She is preceded in death by her father Syd Elliott, niece Katie Elliott, and nephew Rion Elliott. Her mother and father-in-law “Tug” and Shirley Myers and her brothers-in-law Perry Myers and Rodney Myers and a sister-in-law Julie Myers.
We would also like to take this time to thank the IHC Hospice team for their care of our mom and their guidance as we entered the final stages of her life.
