Cindy Stirland Mozingo, 57, returned to the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on Oct. 25, 2022, with her husband, five children, and loved ones by her side.
She was born Feb. 3, 1965 in Logan, Utah to her mother Carol Aller Stirland and father Oral F. Stirland. She was raised in River Heights, Utah where she lived a very active childhood and enjoyed running around with the neighborhood kids, climbing trees, riding her pony, sleeping under the stars, and going on trips with her family. She loved watching the Atlanta Braves and Denver Broncos games with her mother. She was the youngest of seven children and enjoyed helping raise her many nieces and nephews.
Cindy attended River Heights Elementary, North Cache Middle School, and graduated from Sky View High School in 1983. She then attended beauty school in Logan and attained a license to cut and style hair, a skill that she used on her husband and children for many years.
While on a trip with her mother to visit her sister in Billings, Montana, she was introduced to a Latter-Day Saint missionary. Eight months later she recognized him at an institute dance on the USU campus and struck up a conversation with him. From that moment on he became the love of her life. They steadily dated for the next year and a half until they were married in the Logan LDS Temple on May 9, 1986.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings such as Nursery leader, Primary teacher, Young Women’s leader, and even coached the Young Women’s basketball team the year they won the championship. She fulfilled every calling with the utmost amount of love and compassion for those she served.
Cindy worked as a reading teacher at Nibley Elementary for the last 16 years of her life where she thoroughly enjoyed helping children read and gained many close friends while doing it. She took pride in what she did and loved every student she taught. It was easy for her to go to work knowing that what she did had a great impact on their lives.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family was her world. She was always happiest when her children and grandchildren were around her and loved spending quality time with each one of them. She absolutely loved being a grandma and enjoyed spoiling and obsessing over her grandchildren every chance that she could. She loved unconditionally and was always the first to forgive. She did not worry herself with worldly possessions. Her time with family and friends is what she valued above all else.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Carol. She is survived by her husband Matt; her five children, Shane, Cody, Shelby, Caden, and Cole; her three daughters-in-law, Christina, Laycee, and Kiley; her two grandchildren, Ronin and Desmond; and her siblings, George Preece (Cendy), Carolyn Baker (Neal McBride), Gary Aller (Kathy-deceased), Shauna Hobbs (Steve), Van Stirland (Marti), and Dixie Maughan (Rocky).
