Collette Eberhard Howard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully on November 1, 2022.
Collette was born on May 22, 1936, to Ernest and Nevon Eberhard in Preston, Idaho. She was the oldest of six children. After graduating from Preston High School in 1954, she attended Ricks College, where she met her future husband, Charles. They were married in the Logan Temple on May 9, 1958.
Collette graduated from BYU with a degree in elementary education. She taught 3rd grade for 2 years until she and Chuck started a family.
Collette was a devoted mother to her children. She made sure they were well cared for, preparing food, keeping a tidy home, and using her skills as a seamstress to provide clothing. She taught them by example. She could be seen reading her scriptures every morning. She and Chuck made sure they had family prayer, scripture study and family home evening.
Collette loved music and was an accomplished pianist, organist, and singer. She participated in many choirs, either directing, singing, or playing the piano. She shared her skills on the piano and the organ by providing music lessons to others.
Collette was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She served in many callings including Relief Society president, Primary counselor, choir director, organist, pianist and teacher. Her most cherished callings were serving for those who had gone on before. She was a master genealogist and researched and found thousands of names of her ancestors. She shared this talent by helping others find their ancestors. She was the director of the family history center in Boise and then, after moving to Wellsville, Utah, served in the family history center in Logan for 17 years. Collette loved the temple. She served in the Boise and Logan temples for a total of 18 years.
Collette is survived by her husband Charles and children Kevin (Nancy) Howard, Sharma (Jed) Clark, Janna Carnivale, and Trevor (Johna) Howard and 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Collette’s family would like to thank the nurses, aids, and CNAs at Sunshine Terrace for their loving care of Collette over the past 3 years. Also, a special thanks to her hospice nurse, Robert at CNS Home Health & Hospice.
