David Reese Bunnell, 60, who is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Thursday November 2, 2023 after years of courageously battling ongoing health problems. David was born on December 20, 1962 in Ogden, Utah to Wallace and Natalie Bunnell. David was the oldest of 8 children.
David was always an easy-going child. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing a variety of sports including baseball, softball, football, and wrestling. Music was an important part of his life and he learned to play the piano at an early age and then the organ later in life. David participated in the Scouting program and earned his Eagle Scout award. As a brother David was always kind and enjoyed his role as big brother by letting his younger siblings hang out with him and his friends. David enjoyed initiating family battles by dividing the younger kids into army groups and having battles against each other.
In David's high school years, his family moved to Saint Anthony, Idaho where he met an angel, Brenda Lee Browning, across the room in biology. She wanted nothing to do with him, but they were paired up together as lab partners. David wanted to do all the dirty work, like dissecting the frog, to impress her and eventually he won her heart. They were married March 31, 1983, and sealed in the Salt Lake City temple on March 31, 1984. That same year, they moved to Logan, Utah and for over 40 years David and Brenda were inseparable best friends. David was the proud father of Megan, Nicole, Hayden, David Jordan, and Haylie. He loved spending time with his children, and they all treasured the times he spent playing with them. The family enjoyed playing baseball, wrestling for family home evening, board games, card games, and just hanging out as a family. David always made time to play with his children.
David worked very hard to support his family and make sure they had everything they needed. He worked for 30 years at Autoliv as a chemist lab tech. While working full time he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at Utah State University.
David was a dedicated disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ. He served in numerous callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Scouting, Young Men’s, Elder’s Quorum, Primary, and Organist. His favorite calling was being the Primary Pianist.
As much as David loved being a father, he loved being the grandfather to 13 grandchildren even more. His Grandkids became his pride and joy, and Grandpa and Grandma’s house became the favorite hangout for all the family.
David is survived by his loving wife Brenda; father and mother, Wallace and Natalie Bunnell; children, Megan (Brock) Johnson, Nicole (Merlin Scott) Lindsay, Hayden (Jenny) Bunnell, David Jordan Bunnell and Haylie Harrison; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Parker, Abby, Patrick, Zeke, Olivia, Mason, Jeffrey, Lillie, Taft, Emma, Ella, and Brynlee; brothers and sisters Alison Bunnell, Paul (Missy) Bunnell, Carole (Mark) Sullivan, Leann (Matt) Pond, Mark (Angela) Bunnell, Michael (Amanda) Bunnell, and Dale (Valery) Bunnell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Wellsville 3rd ward meeting house, 49 West 200 South, Wellsville Utah. The interment will be at the Wellsville Cemetery.
