It is sad for us to announce that our lovely mother Ivy Doreen Blauer has passed away. She passed peacefully on March 5th, 2023, at the age of 90.
Doreen’s childhood was spent on the Leonhardt family’s Seldom Rest Ranch, living the Providence farm life among many animals and a beautiful pear & apple orchard.
She was introduced to the love of her life Wendell “Prune” Blauer by her friend (Prune’s little sister) Karma. They were married and sealed in the Logan Temple on February 6th, 1952.
Doreen loved her national bowling trips with her friends, fishing with her husband Prune, and playing golf with her pendulum swing. Man, she could swing that club all the way around her body.
In her golden years, you could find Doreen meticulously caring for the landscaping at Providence Cemetery, alongside Prune. Doreen had a talented green thumb as evidenced by her gorgeous yard at home. Her favorite flower to grow was the rose.
Doreen’s favorite time of the year was Christmas. This holiday brought all her family and many friends together at the Blauer Homestead. Just come in the garage door, and you’d be met with a crowd of people welcoming you in. It could be total chaos with her grandchildren running up and down the two flights of stairs chasing each other and the many animals she kept. Her cats were especially dear to her heart which earned her the nickname “Grandma Kitty” by her grandkids. Doreen truly had a full life with many family members and friends to remember her with fond memories.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wendell G “Prune” Blauer, her mother Ivy M. Leonhardt, her father Lavar Mohr, and stepfather Norman Leonhardt. Survived by children Susan G. (Lynn) Hendrixson, W. Troy (Leslie) Blauer, Jayne B. Christensen, Shawn L. (Marie) Blauer and L. Kipp (Michelle) Blauer, 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Further suvived by her siblings Arlean (Bill) Cravalho, Ivan (Vona Vee) Leonhardt, and Judie (Ted-deceased) Woolf.
A private celebration of life will be held for family and friends on March 13, 2023. Interment at Providence Cemetery.
