Dorothy Walls Marx (96) passed away on Saturday April 1, 2023, in North Logan, Utah.
Dorothy was born on August 3, 1926, in Sacramento, California to Charles Edward Walls and Margaret Ellen Bailey. She married Verdell C. Marx Sr. on January 10, 1946, in Sacramento, California. Soon after marrying, they moved to Roosevelt, Utah, where they raised three sons and two daughters together.
Dorothy was a tireless worker. She held a job to help support her family her entire adult life. She finally retired in 1996 at the age of 70.
Dorothy was a Christian, and she loved her Lord. She studied His teachings and knew the scriptures better than most. She was also an avid reader. Her green thumb was unmatched, and her gardens were always in bloom with tropical flowers that were not thought to survive Utah’s harsh climate. And when her eyes and fingers still allowed, Dorothy crocheted beautifully-intricate afghans and blankets for her children and grandchildren.
Dorothy was a gifted writer and poet. She had a special ability to express thought and emotion with pen and paper. She leaves her family with a recorded legacy of beautifully personalized poetry, allegories, and stories.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband; her eldest son and his wife (Verdell C. Marx Jr. and Kenna), and a grandson (Cody Wayne Marx). She is survived by David (Patsy) Marx, Hyde Park, Utah; Alan Marx, Ogden, Utah; Margaret (Weston) Gunn, Salt Lake City, Utah; Marilyn (Greg) Krstyen, Salt Lake City, Utah; 31 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy’s family extends a special thank you to her friends and the staff at Maple Springs Assisted Living, to Dr. Michael Stones, and to Dorothy’s good friend and neighbor, Doug Blaser.
