Douglas Charles Smith

Douglas Charles Smith, 70, passed away July 28, 2024 in Logan Utah. He was born April 17, 1954, at Hamilton Field AFB, Marin, California, the only son of Charles William Smith Jr and Barbara Monson Smith. When Doug was six years old, our Dad died in a car accident. Several years later Mom met and married Elmer W Rinderknecht from Providence Utah. He was a great blessing to our family and a wonderful Dad.

Doug lived in California, France, Idaho, Oregon and Utah. He attended schools in Preston Idaho and Smithfield Utah, graduating from Sky View High School. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ in Portland Oregon where he met Jeri Aust. After his mission, they re-connected and were later married in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with three children, Matthew Douglas Smith, Eric Robert Smith and Jessica Rae Smith. They were later divorced.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many callings. Doug enjoyed his time driving semi trucks on the open road. 

He is survived by his children, Matt, Eric and Jessica, sisters, Carol (Mark) Gunnell, Julie (Marty) Bushman and Nancy (Wendell) Curtis. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepdad, and sister Kathy Davis.

A visitation will be held Saturday, August 24 at 10:00 am at White Pine Mortuary, 753 S 100 E, Logan Utah. Funeral services will follow at 11:00. Interment will be at the Preston Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
