Hazel Patricia Boyle passed away on Thursday, March 2 at Maple Springs, North Logan Utah. She completed her earthly mission at 88.
She was born January 6,1935 in Bogota, Colombia. Her parents, Ernst and Teresa Kanold welcomed her with joy. She was raised as an only child, surrounded by many people in her life that adored her. She attended private schools and graduated from MaryMount at the age of 16.
She then went on to secretarial school and landed a job working as a secretary for Citibank, where she met a handsome young LDS man Edward C Boyle from Ogden, Utah. They were married July 5, 1952 that began a wonderful partnership that continued for almost 65 years. Her birth father left for Germany and never returned. Her mother remarried Edward Pearce Roskruge from Cornwall, England when she was 5 yrs. old and he adopted her. She became Hazel Patricia Roskruge and he loved her as his own.
Their journey with Citibank took them to many countries all over the world. They started their family with Sharon, then Linda, Kimmy and Sarah. They moved to the US in 1968 to Wilton, Conn. where she studied hard to become a U.S. citizen. Six years later they moved to Liberia, West Africa then on to Beirut, Lebanon where a life changing event happened.
She has always been a woman of faith and decided to read The Book of Mormon. She felt it’s truth and was baptized at the American University of Beirut in a swimming pool becoming a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and remained faithful to the end. She served in many callings, has always loved doing service, being compassionate and kind. Everyone she met she greeted with a smile.
Her hobbies included reading, cooking which she taught herself from a Betty Crocker cook book and was a fabulous cook. She was an avid golfer and tennis player, and loved to expand her wardrobe anytime. Dad retired and they made their home in Rio Verde, Az for 15 yrs., and then on to St. George , Ut to be closer to family for 13 years. Last move was to North Logan, Ut in 2018. Our parents were sealed in the Logan Temple December 29, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ted, her parents and a granddaughter KarleyJo . Survived by 4 daughters, Sharon (Randy Brower) North Logan, Ut, Linda (Scott Davis) Corning, California, Kimmy (Craig Terry) St. George, Ut and Sarah of North Logan , Ut. We are so grateful to everyone at Maple Springs who gave us 10 more months with her, with their excellent care and love.
