Isabel May Nielsen

May 6, 1929 — April 25, 2025

Hyrum, Utah

Isabel May Lank Nielsen was born on May 6, 1929 in Vegreville Alberta Canada to Enid Alice Hohn and Clarence Earl Lank. She died in her home from natural causes on April 25, 2025.

Isabel was the second of 5 children. At 16 years of age, her family moved to a farm in British Columbia Canada. This farm must have been surrounded by hills, because walking to or from school was always uphill. There is a lot of work on a farm and every person had jobs to do. Isabel was a hard worker. Her family was a close-knit bunch, loud, boisterous and full of fun.

A few years passed and Isabel met Thomas DeLoy Nielsen who was a missionary at the time. It took some time for her to warm up to him but the moment he wiggled his ears at her from across the room - she knew he was the one!

They were married on July 25, 1952 in the Logan Temple. DeLoy was in the army, they spent some time in California, and in Washington at Fort Lewis. After his discharge, they moved to Bountiful, Utah and then to Hyrum.

They were blessed with 4 children; Laurie, Clayton, Mike, and Rene.

Isabel was involved in many things in her life. She had a catering business for many years and did weddings and events all over Cache Valley. She sang with the Bel Cantos Choir, was a member of the Hyrum Saddle Club, the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the Hyrum Literary Club, and the Red Hats. She loved to play cards with her friends.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She valiantly served in many many positions and callings. In her later life she loved going to the Hyrum Senior Citizens Center. She loved the programs, Bingo, and spending time with friends.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Thomas DeLoy Nielsen, parents Enid and Clarence Lank, Siblings; Clifford Lank, Clayton Lank, Betty Knudsen, and Clarene Penrose. 2 Grandsons; Ty and Riley Barrett, and a granddaughter Raysha Nielsen.

She is survived by her 4 children; Laurie (Grant) Nelson of Wellsville, Clayton (Maria) Nielsen of Hyrum, Michael Nielsen of Elko Nevada, Rene (Tracy) Barrett of Young Ward. 14 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren.
