Joshua Rory Lutz

July 19, 2004 — August 25, 2024

Smithfield, UT

Joshua Rory Lutz was taken from this life on August 25, 2024, doing what he loved most. Our hearts are forever broken as he leaves a giant Josh-sized hole in our lives. Josh had a smile that melted our hearts and it could get him out of anything. He came into this world as the cutest chubby baby boy with wispy blonde hair on July 19, 2004. From the moment we laid eyes on him, we knew he was the perfect missing piece to our family. Josh was always the daredevil brother. As a kid, he pushed his bike off the back porch to test out what would happen before he tried it, and then he did it himself. He had a deep love for animals and once tried to smuggle the family cat Sweetie to school in his backpack.

Josh was very physically talented and excelled at sports his entire life. He played soccer as a kid and was lucky enough to be coached by his older siblings for several years. In high school, he picked up a baseball and never looked back. Josh was amazing to watch on the field and loved playing. After graduating high school, his friends got him into Rugby. He loved the action and the time spent hanging out with his Rugby team.

Before he was taken from us, he spent long days working for Edge Excavation with his older brother Jakob. Josh was a hard worker and smarter than he ever gave himself credit for. He leaves behind many mentors and coworkers that changed his life for the better.

Josh had a support network of some of the best friends we could ask for him to have. He treasured each of them dearly. They will never know how much they impacted his life for the better and we love them for that.

Josh is survived by his Mother, Melody Phillips, and Father, Rory F Lutz. His Siblings Abbey (Brad) Watkins, Jakob (Shelsy) Lutz, Benjamin (Olivia) Lutz, Emily Lutz and Molly Lutz. He will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephew Isabella, Jace, Cecilia, Julia, Blair, and Naomi. He also leaves behind his furry companion Sadie girl and many many cousins, aunts and uncles that love and will miss him.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ruth and Gilbert Phillips, an Uncle Tracy Phillips, Baby Watkins (Nephew), and many beloved fur children Heidi, Skippy, Ranger, Boss, and Sweetie.

There are no words for how broken our hearts will be without Josh. He was unmatched as a baby brother, son, uncle, and friend. We will miss his smile and love for everything fast and furious. Words cannot express how proud we all are of Josh, and how much he has worked to accomplish and overcome hardship.

We would like to express our deepest appreciation for the Smithfield EMTs that attended to Josh on scene, the Medical staff at the Cache Specialty Hospital, and the Surgical Team Providers at McKay Dee Hospital for their utmost professionalism and care of our sweet Josh.

A viewing for Josh will be held on Thursday, August 29th from 6:00-8:00 pm at White Pine Funeral Services, 753 S 100 E, Logan, Utah. A graveside service will be on Friday, August 30th at Noon at the Richmond City Cemetery. Following the graveside service, there will be a celebration of life at the Richmond City Central Park South Pavilion. All are welcome. Come share a hug and memory of Josh.

We love you 3000 Josh. Stay Fly Brother.
