LaRee M Floyd passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday July 12, 2023 at her home in Hyrum from what appears to be a massive heart attack. She was born on August 30, 1947 in Logan, Utah to Wesley Hyrum and Harriet Marie Mair. She was the fourth of seven children bookended by one brother and two sisters on the older side and by two sisters and one brother on the younger side.
Growing up on the family dairy farm in Paradise gave Laree plenty of opportunities to learn the things in life that would carry her through. Things like getting up early, hard work, sticking to things, knowing that it takes more than one person to get things done, the beauty of things that grow and how to get them to grow. She worked in the food industry for most of her career, starting at Clearfield Cheese in Wellsville and then moving to Schrieber Foods in Logan, working her way up through the ranks to finish her career in the Quality Control department, retiring after 33 years. LaRee had fond memories and recollections of the many friends that she worked with over the years.
In June of 1969 LaRee married A. Lafaun Floyd, whom she met at work. They lived in Millville, Logan, Millville, College Ward, Hyrum, and moved to a different location in Hyrum where she has resided for the last 31 years. LaRee has three children, Jodie (Blake Pulsipher), David and Jason. And three granddaughters, Blake & Jodie’s daughters, Mikaela and Hannah and Jason’s daughter Annabelle. These girls all made her smile, it didn’t matter if it was a physical visit, or a phone or facetime call, or just hearing about the things that they have accomplished.
LaRee enjoyed embroidery, the Waltons, growing flowers in her yard, the Waltons, visiting with family and friends, the Waltons, a cold Diet Coke, the Waltons, seeing her Christmas tree in the front room even if it was June, and oh yea the Waltons.
Laree is survived by her husband, Lafaun; children, Jodie (Blake Pulsipher), David, and Jason; granddaughters, Mikaela and Hannah Pulsipher and Annabelle Floyd; siblings, Skip (Jeri), Joann Miller (Gary deceased), Linda Buzzell (Dale), James “Tip” Tibke, Debbie Broberg, Morris (Angie); sisters-in-law, Gail Floyd (Willie deceased) and Carolyn Floyd (Dale deceased); and too many nieces and nephews to mention. Did we mention that both she and Lafaun were one of seven siblings? She was preceded in death by her parents, Wes and Marie; and sister, Coleen Tibke, who died one day before her; father and mother-in-law, W.O. and Eva Floyd; brothers and sisters-in law not mentioned above, Louise and Don Deegan, Earline and Jim Kropf, Delacy Floyd and Henry Floyd.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paradise Cemetery, where LaRee will be laid to rest within earshot of the family farm that she grew up on.
It takes a massive heart attack to take someone with a massive heart, until we meet again RIP LaRee.
