Larry Cottle Maughan

Larry Cottle Maughan born on August 17, 1956 to Arol and Lea Maughan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, February 5, 2022.

Larry grew up in Hyrum as the third of six boys.  He enjoyed raising animals, farming with his dad and grandpa, skiing, hunting, camping, fishing, scouting and causing chaos with all the neighborhood kids.  He was an Eagle Scout and a Sterling Scholar for Vocational Education.  He graduated from Sky View High School in 1974.

He married Terri Reeder on June 25, 1976. Together they raised three kids.  As a family much fun was had on the water, fishing, tubing, and water skiing.  Many fun camping trips were spent at Lake Alice, Wyoming, Twin Lakes and Flaming Gorge.  Winters were spent on the ice at Porcupine and Hyrum Dam. He worked in the construction industry most of his life.

Later in life he enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, spending time with his grandkids and grand-dogs, hosting hot dog roasts, tin foil dinner and dutch oven cook offs, luau’s, boating and fishing.  Over the last several years he has spent time tinkering in his shop due to his declining health.  We are glad he is no longer struggling and can get back to chasing the monster fish.  We can’t wait to hear all the fish stories one day.

Larry is survived by his children Misty (Travis) Bown, Cassidy (Chad) Bradshaw, Zacc (Scott Meier) Maughan, his ex wife Terri, his grandchildren Samm, Jade, Nash, Jack, Kash, Caleb, Sunny, Olivia, Brookelyn, nine grand-dogs, his step mother Marian Maughan, and his brothers Devon (Karen), Darwin (Debbie), Gaylen (Teresa), Doug (Kathy), Bruce Maughan and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by both of his parents.
