Linden Arlin Peterson of River Heights, Utah passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday May 14, 2023.
Linden was born on September 5, 1942 to Howard and Josephine Allred-Peterson in Logan, Utah.
He is the second eldest of four children. Sherid (Jane) Peterson, Jolene Checketts, and Karen Fisher.
Linden grew up along the banks of the Logan River on 3rd South. He attended Woodruff Elementary, Logan Junior High, and Logan High School.
He met and married Diane Hawkes in the Logan Temple and celebrated 57 years of marriage before she preceded him in death last July. Together they are survived by their eight children: Stephen (Carolee Lavery) Peterson, Jason (Holger) Peterson, Julie Marshall, Robert Peterson (Keri Andersen), Richard Peterson, Carolyn (Chris) Erickson, Paul Peterson, and Rebecca (Robert) Wickham; 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Linden served honorably in the Utah National Guard and retired from Utah State University after working as a painter in the facilities department. One of his most memorable tasks at the University was painting the Aggie football field each season before home games.
His favorite activities included Dutch-oven cooking and competitions with the Festival of the American West World Championship Dutch Oven Cook Off. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, auto body work, and camping, especially up Blacksmith Fork Canyon at the Peterson Property. Perhaps, his favorite place to be was in his garden. He loved processing the fresh vegetables from the garden. It brought him much joy to provide for his family.
He has a great love for his children and grandchildren. He was so happy to become a great grandfather just two weeks ago.
He served in many church callings and served a service mission at the Bishops’ Storehouse with his wife Diane that he truly found joy in helping others. He has a strong testimony of the Gospel and of Eternal families. He is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the River Heights Fourth Ward.
Linden will truly be missed by his loved ones, but we hold onto the memories we have. We would like to thank Community Nursing Services for their care of our father.
