Marie Fredrickson Archibald passed away peacefully at her home in Wellsville, surrounded by her loving family, on May 28th, 2024, at the age of 86. Marie was born on August 4th,1937, in Avon, Utah, to Vernon and LaVon Clark Fredrickson. Her early years on the family ranch were filled with horseback riding and the joy of being surrounded by animals. She graduated from South Cache High School, where she had a passion for playing the trumpet in the marching band and attended many dances, particularly enjoying the Jitterbug. Dancing at the Elite Hall brought Marie and Murray Archibald together, and their love soon blossomed. She was married and sealed to George Murray Archibald on November 15, 1956, in the Logan LDS temple. Their union was blessed with eight children. The couple welcomed Jean Timican into their loving home, an addition that brought an immense amount of joy to the entire family.
Marie found joy in numerous church callings, where she was a devoted and active member. With Murray by her side, while owning and operating a meat packing facility, she took great pride in running the family farm, a role that brought her immense satisfaction and happiness. Her passion and devotion for agriculture extended beyond her own farm to help friends and family. She enjoyed creating hay forts for her children, which provided endless entertainment and lifelong memories. Fall was not only about harvesting the farm but also the vegetable garden that she grew. Marie, Grandma Fredrickson, and the kids would bottle fruit and vegetables. Their dedication to gardening and food preservation quickly became a treasured family tradition that has been passed down for generations to come. She spent a few years working in the coal mines of Price, Utah, which is a testament to her hard work ethic and dedication. She returned to Wellsville, to be with her loved ones, and finished her career in quality control at Kimberly Clark until she reached retirement. She loved having her grandchildren over for sleepovers filled with popcorn, ice cream, and classic Western movies, Doris Day films, and episodes of The Golden Girls. Her home was a haven of love, laughter, and memorable family celebrations, including Founder's Day BBQs.
She cherished hosting Thanksgiving gatherings inside her cozy home. As the tradition grew along with her expanding family, larger venues became necessary to accommodate everyone, but the warm feel of having the entire family together remained. She is survived by her eight children, Murray (Charlot) Archibald, Cindy (Rod) Long, Sheldon (Laurie) Archibald, Christine (Gordy) Wahler, Gaylene (Tom) Lange, Laura (Joel) Wood, Kirt (Kim) Archibald, Eileen (Dennis) Nelson, Jean (Harland) Featherhat, she also leaves behind her beloved little sister JennaVee (Steve) Woolf, with 34 grandkids, 80 great-grandkids, and 2 great-great-grandkids.
She is reunited with her mom and dad Vernon and LaVon Fredrickson, Clark Fredrickson, Earl (Lois) Fredrickson, Shirley Fredrickson, Vernae (Arthur) Hindberg, Dawayne (Irene) Fredrickson, Newell Fredrickson, Deon (Jerry) Dolinski, Bruce Fredrickson, Joseph Fredrickson.
