Michelle Richman

Michelle Richman, 41, passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, September 17, 2021. Michelle was a leap year baby, born February 29, 1980. She grew up in Hyrum, Utah, and was the oldest of five siblings. She loved them and showed her love through teasing them, but they didn’t always see it as a form of love. She has had a sense of humor since she was young. She passed down this taunting form of affection to them and soon all were participating. Michelle assigned nicknames to all of her siblings and they still go by them to this day.

Michelle had many creative gifts. As a child, she started piano lessons in grade school. Like most children she didn’t see the value in practicing and wanted to quit. She took a break for a year but realized how much she enjoyed music. Having that time away helped her see how much she missed it and she decided to continue piano lessons. She has used this gift throughout her life to help work through her emotions. When she moved out, her first major purchase was a piano because music was important to her.

Michelle also used writing as an outlet to express her feelings. She was a poetic person who was observant about the details in the world around her. She deeply contemplated the feelings that came with her experiences. Anyone who had the privilege of reading or hearing her writings were touched by her words. She used her writing talents to help so many people. She always kept a journal and was working on writing a book.

Michelle was very intellectual and had a deep desire for learning. After high school, she received her cosmetology certificate which led to a desire to continue training and received her aesthetician license. She purchased a home in Las Vegas and started working for a dermatology office. Because of her experience with this doctor, she had a strong desire to become a nurse because she loved helping people. She moved back to Utah to receive her LPN through Bridgerland Applied Technology College in Logan, Utah. That was not enough for Michelle, so she continued on to become a Registered Nurse through Weber State College. From there, she earned her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in nursing through Western Governor’s University. She was so driven, when she decides to do something, there is no holding her back. She would sometimes take up to 28 credits and still get straight A’s. She went on to complete her education with the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing to complete the requirements for Family Nurse Practitioner and became Board Certified in 2018. Her thirst for knowledge never ceased, and she was always gaining certifications in areas of interest to her.

Michelle married Bryan Tidwell September 21, 2002 and later divorced. She married Travis Jones August 15, 2009, and became an instant mom to Sunnie and Waylan. Even though they divorced later, the bond between them always remained strong. They stayed close friends and she was always involved in her step kids’ lives. She loved them as if they were her own and wanted the best for them always. These past few years Michelle’s rock has been her dog Mazy. She was her baby that she slept with, swam with and walked with. She talked to Mazy everyday and gave her kisses because she loved her so much. Mazy is so sad and misses her.

Michelle was a remarkable, determined woman whose presence will not be forgotten by anyone who ever met her. She was a courageous soul who moved forward with purpose in everything she did. She loved to always be moving and always had goals set for herself. She was a very smart, resourceful and ambitious person. She believed in hard work and getting things done. She was a kind-hearted soul who wanted nothing more than to become a Nurse Practitioner so she could help people. She longed to feel valued, important and special, to belong and to be loved. She worked hard on understanding how she could be a better person, daughter, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her mother Anita Porath, (Scott Porath), her father Darvel G Richman (Allison Richman), her brother, Jeremy Richman (Lacey Richman), her sister Kandalee Jones (Jake Jones) and her sister Angela Richman (Jacob Skoy).

Although we have heavy hearts, we find peace in knowing that she is reunited with her brother Derek and her Grandmother Greta, who she was very close to in this life. We know she was met by many grandparents (Allen and Melba Richman) and loved ones who have passed on before her. Michelle is loved by so many and will be missed.
