Neena Ericksen Reed graduated from this life on September 24, 2024 in Ogden, Utah at the age of 70 after battling health issues for the last several years.
Neena was born in Tremonton, UT on April 29, 1954 to Bryce J. Ericksen and Louise Castleton Ericksen, the third of five children. Throughout Neena’s childhood, the family moved several times and she did most of her growing up in Syracuse, New York, and Daytona Beach, Florida. As an adult, she lived in Ogden, Utah and Mesa, Arizona while working and attending school. She served a fulltime mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Washington Seattle Mission.
On January 11, 1986 Neena was sealed for time and all eternity to Russell Reed in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Together they eventually settled in Providence, Utah and raised a wonderful family of four children. Her family meant everything to her and her love showed in everything she did. Every day she reminded them to “make it a happy day, and remember I love you.” She was so proud of them and just recently thrilled to meet her first grandbaby. She made home the place everyone wanted to be.
Her life was exemplified by her love and service. She had an indelible faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ and believed her faith was best expressed through action. She always looked for the good in everyone and constantly did her best to look out for their needs before her own.
Neena had many interests and hobbies throughout her life, including reading, gardening, sewing, playing piano, and painting. She couldn’t resist a good book sale, and always kept at least two books by her nightstand. She loved playing games with her family and friends. It wasn’t hard to get her to play “one more game.” As her health struggles grew, she also enjoyed watching Jeopardy with Russell as they both tried to answer before the contestants.
Neena was preceded in death by her mother and father, as well as her sister, Jane. She is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Russell, her siblings; Jim Ericksen, Kenneth Ericksen (Renate), and MaryAnn (Foster) Nuffer. She is also survived by her children; Afton Reed, Ethan (Melissa) Reed and their son, Jackson; Eldon Reed, and Evan Reed. She will be sorely missed.
