Salt Lake City

Patricia Joyce (Patty) Maughan

Beloved daughter Patty, was born in Logan, Utah, to Dick and Joyce Maughan. She was raised in Hyrum and lived most of her early years in the family home on Main Street. The home was known as a cool-aid home and many of the neighborhood kids would spend the summertime playing night games such as kick the can, hide and seek, red rover, etc.

Patty was always one of the last ones to round up as she loved this time spent with everyone. She was always into playing board games as well and would make the games challenging for all who played, especially at Thanksgiving family events, her favorites were Monopoly and Clue. When the family gained an Atari video game, her and Mom had a very interesting game of frogger, this kept us laughing all night.

She had a great love of family and a tender heart; she loved her aunts and uncles, cousins and nephews and nieces very much. We had the joy of going on camping trips as a family and built great memories together. She loved melting her Safeway rubber shoes on the campfire rocks (like all of the rest of us kids), dancing to the records she had when she thought nobody was looking, going to the Roller Rink, Lagoon, ward mutual activities at the old red church, dragging Main Street in Logan with Robin, country singer Tracy Lawrence, trying to tell her younger brothers what to do when mom and dad were gone (it never worked),and many other things that the 70’s and 80’s had to offer.

She was a member of the Sky View High Marching Band and traveled to many performances in the region playing her flute. In her adult life, she pursued college and earned many degrees with the final being a Master’s Degree from the University of Phoenix in Health Administration. Patty loved to be in the city and was living in Salt Lake at the time of her passing. She worked in the business and medical profession for many years.

She is now having a reunion with loved ones and especially her dad. Patty was preceded in death by her grandparents; George and Rosella Maughan, Margaret Jorgensen, Cleon and Ruth Jorgensen, and her father, George Richard (Dick Maughan). She is survived by her mother, Joyce Maughan, brother Duane (Brandy) Maughan, brother Shane Maughan, many aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, cousins, and extended family.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 30, 2022 in the Hyrum City Cemetery.  The service will be brief as she has never wanted anyone to make a fuss over her. All friends and family are invited to attend a celebration luncheon after the service at the church house at 675 West 95 North, Hyrum for time of remembrance which is more her style. Memories may be shared with the family at www.whitepinefunerals.com
