Richard Cole Horsley, 87, passed away on January 8, 2025 at his home in Providence Utah. Richard was born August 3, 1937 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Ernest M. Horsley and Aleda L. Horsley. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Preston C. Horsley of Brigham City, Utah, and his wife of 66 years, Deanna Riggs Horsley.
Richard spent a portion of his childhood in Southboro, Massachusetts and then moved with his family to Daily City, California, where he graduated from Jefferson Union High School.
It was in San Francisco where he met Deanna Riggs who was attending San Francisco Dental Nursing School.
Deanna and Richard were sealed in the Logan, Utah Temple on May 31, 1957. They are survived by their two sons, Devin (Lori) of Bozeman, Montana and Darren of Logan, Utah. Devin and Lori are the parents of three boys, Brandon (Stephanie) of Orlando, Florida, Jason (Tiffaynee) also of Orlando, and Collin (Jolene) of Victor, Idaho. Richard has 10 great grandchildren who will greatly miss him. Richard is also survived by a brother and sister in law and many nieces and nephews who he loved very much.
Richard, while working at a bank in San Rafael, California; took the advice of a dear friend and earned his certification in stenography. He worked as a court reporter in the Marin County court system and later in San Francisco doing the same. Richard made many cherished lifelong friends over his professional career.
Richard and Deanna raised their boys in Northern California in the town of San Rafael before returning to Utah for their retirement.
Deanna and Richard were fortunate to be able to enjoy traveling throughout the United States and through many parts of Europe. He also enjoyed doing genealogy and reminiscing with family and friends. Richard had a big heart and was always willing to do what he could to help family and friends and those he came in contact with. Richard served faithfully in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, worked at, and attended the temple as often as he could.
Richard will be missed, but his smile and commitment to his friends and family will always be remembered.
There will be a viewing Friday evening, January 24,2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at White Pine Funeral Services, 753 South 100 East, Logan with the funeral services on Saturday, January 25, 2025 also at White Pine at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Wellsville cemetery.
