On October 2, 2023, Roberta Roskelley Morgan, surrounded by her family, peacefully joined her sweetheart and returned home to her loving Heavenly Father at the age of 106. She will be remembered for her legacy of genuine love, selfless service, and devotion to her family and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her dedication and influence will forever bless the lives of those who have known and loved her.
Roberta was born in a small farming town in Smithfield, Utah on January 9, 1917. Her parents, David and Vera Roskelley, raised Roberta in the depression which helped her to learn the value of hard work and self-sufficiency. Many days were spent picking and thinning beets in the field and each morning and night she would milk the cows while singing them the latest rendition of the “top ten”. This was a humble beginning for a growing talent. Through the years Roberta has blessed many lives with her music.
When Roberta was a sophomore in High School she met Cecil Joseph Morgan. After two and half years of dating, they were married. Over the next ten years, they were blessed with three daughters and one son: Bonnie (deceased), Patricia, Susan, and Stephen.
During Roberta’s life she perfected many hobbies and she always took a blue ribbon for cooking. She was also a beautiful seamstress and spent many late nights sewing clothes for her children. You could often find her and Cecil out in their garden planting, weeding, and picking delicious produce that they would share with neighbors.
Her motto in life was to “NEVER GIVE UP”! At almost 107 years old she was actively engaged in reading, canning, watching the Utah Jazz, and eating double stacks at Wendy’s.
Roberta lived a full life and saw many changes, but the one thing that remained constant was her deep love for her Savior and her family.
Thank you for being strong, uncomplaining, and blessing our lives through your soft and patient example. You have given us a stalwart heritage of enduring to the end.
