He grew up in Layton, Utah where he fished, hunted, and camped with his family. He learned the values of honesty, hard work, and dependability from his parents. As a youth, he had a newspaper route for many years and delivered newspapers by riding through the neighborhood on his bike. He played baseball at Layton High School and after graduation, he served an honorable mission in Oklahoma for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later he married Jackie Guinn and together they had four children. They were divorced and years later he married Heidi Barker. Together they had twin sons. They were later divorced.
He graduated from Weber State University and worked at RC Willey, at Hill Air Force Base in Logistics, and was honored for his work. Rod’s health was a challenge throughout his life and he passed away after a long illness and valiant battle.
Rod loved the Lord, served in many callings and capacities in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during his life, and influenced friends and family for good. He was cheerful, optimistic, and always willing to lend a hand or brighten someone’s day with a joke, a tease, or just a smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest daughter, Shaylyne. He is survived by three brothers, D. Michael Pearce, (Wendy), of Nibley, UT, Jeffrey L Pearce (Richelle), of Kaysville, UT, and Steven K. Pearce, of Williston, ND. He is also survived by 5 children, Kimberly Keen (Jonathan), Kirsten Crossen, Taylor Pearce (Kristian), Hunter and Hayden Pearce and his grandchildren; Ava Keen, Jakob Keen, Mckinlee Crossen, Jaxon Crossen, Kiya Pearce, Madilyn Pearce, Paige Pearce and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was loved and cared for at the Blacksmith Fork Assisted Living Center in Hyrum, UT for almost two years before his passing. He was very well taken care of and enjoyed some close friendships with residents and staff alike.
