Sherrie Kaye (Nielsen) Olsen

Smithfield, UT

Sherrie Kaye Nielsen Olsen beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by her loving family on March 28, 2023. Born to Clark and Violet Nielsen on August 23, 1943, in Hyrum, Utah. She was married to Jerry Edward Olsen for 25 years. She is survived by her children.  Leisa Jean Vineyard (Kit), Jeri Ann Olsen (Michael), Edward John Olsen (Shelly), Michael Wayne Olsen (Fernanda), Merilee Kaye Hoecherl (Travis), sister and brothers, Jean Andrus, Wayne L. Nielsen, Clark R. Nielsen; and her 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by her parents, Clark Wayne and Violet Eleanor Nielsen; and sister Kathy Denke. 

Sherrie was a dedicated member of the LDS Church. She excelled in her calling as the Young Women’s Stake Camp Director for many years. She made every camp outing a special event by spending countless hours making themed gifts for each girl. She also incorporated her love and talent for music in all events making each trip become a fun and unforgettable memory for all who attended.

Sherrie’s had a passion and drive for everything that she put her mind to. She never let anything stop her from accomplishing what she wanted to do. She loved to be outside working hard on any project to do with nature and would not stop until she had completed her task. She loved to garden and had an amazing green thumb. She volunteered as a referee for the Utah Youth Soccer for many years and was always invested in any project or activity that any of her children were interested in. She was a volunteer for the Utah 2002 Olympics and never missed an opportunity to show off her collection of Olympics memorabilia. 

Sherrie's love for her family knew no limits. She always had someone on her mind with a compliment filled with pride for who they are as a person and what they had accomplished in life. She would also take every opportunity to teach her children and grandchildren something new. 

Viewing will be held prior to graveside service at Millville LDS church located at 110 S Main Street from 12:00 -1:00 pm on Saturday April 1, 2023. Graveside service, Hyrum Cemetery 525 E Main St at 1:30 pm.
