Stephen Anderson

January 7, 1969 — August 2, 2024

Logan

Captain Stephen Lamar Anderson passed away in his home from a sudden illness on August 2, 2024. He was born in Murray, Utah, on January 7, 1969, to David and Colleen Anderson. Steve graduated from Sky View High School and later from Utah State University with a degree in engineering. Steve chose to serve the lord as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1988, and he was called to the Switzerland, Zurich mission. In 1989 he was called to be one of the first eight missionaries allowed behind the Iron Curtain into East Germany, where he is still known and loved by the Saints in Leipzig. Steve has been an example to all of us on how to live a Christ-like life.

Steve is beloved by everyone who has met and gotten to know him. He had a fierce love for his family and friends. Steve was a loving father, son, brother, good friend, mentor, and teacher. He had a way of including people from all walks of life in his adventurous life. He loved to share his love and excitement with anyone. Those who knew Steve have experienced flying, boating, camping, running, building, and just having fun with him and his family. Steve loved to be in a boat with the smiling faces of family, friends, and even 20-30 of his kids’ friends. He was awarded with many trophies, medals, and achievements from his time running on track and field teams and from his time as a Masters marathon runner later in life. Steve's joy for life and family was contagious and will carry on with the people who have been in his life.

Steve was one of those people who could build or fix anything. Many of us have cars, houses, and "toys" that have been fixed, repaired, or built by him. He loved to learn, teach and work on projects with people. Steve was a great pilot and flew as a captain for Frontier Airlines for many years. He has been a flight instructor and mentor for many pilots, including his oldest daughter, Natalie.

Steve is survived by his children Bently (Isabela), Natalie, and Shelby; his parents David and Colleen Anderson; and his brothers and sisters Michael (Julie), Paula, John (Aubrey), Brian, Christa (Ralph), Mackay, Nathan (Kim), Kevin, and Cara (David). He was preceded in death by his brother David and grandparents Walter and Florence Ewell, and Leo Vett and Mildred Anderson.

Steve's family will be holding a celebration of life at Hyrum Gibbons Mount Logan Park 1400 E 350 S in Logan, next to his house on August 10, 2024, at 9:00 AM. If you plan to attend please wear casual attire and bring a blanket or chairs for grass seating. All family and friends are welcome to attend. Following the celebration of life, the family would like to invite friends and family to attend a boating activity at Newton Dam, as this was one of his favorite activities.

Memories and messages may be shared with the family by going online at www.whitepinefunerals.com. The service was livestreamed and recorded.  The recording of the memorial can be viewed below.
